POSTER/SPIRIT THEMES

I have provided samples without our mascot so you can modify for your use. Click on theme. On the next page, right click on image and use the "save image as" function to download to your computer.

These themes can be use to motivate sport teams on posters, or to center a pep rally around or to rouse the fans for the big game or to inspire your squad at camp or for the entire season.

1. Get Fired Up, Cats are Red Hot! - Give away "Red Hot" candies to cheering fans. The cheerleaders can arrive at the game in a fire truck. Perform a halftime routine featuring a song with "fire" or "hot" in the title.

2. Own the Dome - The football state playoffs were hosted in a dome-shaped arena. To motivate our football team, shirts were made with this logo on the front.

3. Let Your Spirit Shine - hand out glow sticks to spirited fans

4. Cats are Dynamite! - Wrap up empty TOILET PAPER ROLLS with paper and a pipe cleaner through the top..fill with goodies, and write "Our team is dynamite!"

5. Capture the Moment! Seize a Victory! - This is a great theme if your team's mascot is a Pirate.

6. Best in the West! Lasso a Victory! - Have the cheerleaders arrive at the game or assembly riding stick horses and sporting comboy hats and bandanas.

7. Mission Possible - We used this to set the mood for the year at camp. It not only inspires the team but set the tone for all events and goals.

Use it also for a pep assembly theme. Start off the assembly with the lights turned off. In come a few people dressed in trench coats, hats, and sunglasses as the song, "Mission Impossible" is playing in the background. They are looking for the missing "School Spirit". Plan skits and class competitions around ways to try to find it.

8. Ride the Wave to Victory - A fun beachy-type theme. Use it not only for posters but at the game or getting the students pumped for the big game! Have a limbo contest during lunch. Encouage the students to dress in summer or beach attire on game day. Hand out leis to the first 100 students that come to the game.

9. Let Your Spirit Soar - Hand out bubbles to the first 100 students that enter the game. Host a paper airplane flying contest at lunch or at haltime of the game.

10. Halloween - Give lollipops wrapped in napkins to the players that says, _______ does not have a ghost of a chance against the mightly _______". Perform to the band playing "Thriller" at halftime. Instead of wearing their uniforms, have the cheerleaders wear costumes.

11. Be HEROES - Our theme for winter season for both cheering on the sidelines and competing was HEROES: Hardworking, Enthusiastic, Responsible, Optimistic, Encouraging, Showmanship. All our deeds were captured in a comic book format to add a little fun to what we did!

12.new Once Upon A Time . . . Our cheer coaches association used this concept, developed by Andrea Snyder, throughout the year and at the annual conference. Basically the idea is that you can make your own story come true.  Here is a poem that my cheerleaders wrote when we used the theme.

13. Best in the West! Lasso a Victory! - We used this as a camp theme. Our door signs were wanted posters with photos of the cheerleaders. All the nightly awards were based on "Wanted for" extreme enthusiasm, best jumps, etc. Everyone wore cowboy hats all week and had stick horses.

14.new "Oak Harbor Rocks!" - Used this for a camp theme.

15. newXtreme Leadership: Cheer Edition or "Building a Great Team One Stunt at a Time".
